Star set a high standard for the Regatta season

STAR CLUB achieved very pleasing results at Wallingford Regatta on Sunday 4th May.

Held at Dorney Lake in Eton, over 2000m, the Bank Holiday weekend saw 6 Star crews compete at the first prestigous regatta of the season.

Lottie Burgess won the WJ 1X event, The Wallingford Skiff Regatta Cup, leading off the start over Burway and Maidenhead. Lottie also competed in the WJ 4X with Hui Yan Manley, Kit Mulvaney and Helena Rozman, finishing third behind Marlow and Sir William Borlase School.

The J16 4X of Tom Beechinor, Andy Walker, Jack Tysoe and Tom Durrant also came third behind The Kings School Ely and Marlow.

Victoria Huckle, Charlotte Cook, Ruby Ellam and Pam Ewang were runners up to Sir William Borlase School by a quarter of a second in a very exciting race for the WJ16 4X.

Rachel Armstrong and Beverley Young competed in a composite women's coxless 4, competing in the elite category and again they finished in 3rd place. They are now setting their sights on Women's Henley Regatta in June.

Meanwhile, Star’s Men’s Squad, Chris Callow, Dave Kempsall, Pete Mulkerrins and Mark Bavington, finished off the day by coming third to Star & Arrow (Leander) and Gloucester in the final of the S2 4- event.
