Record-breaking rowers on song

Star Club squad signed off the season in syle with some record-breaking performances at the Peterborough Summer Regatta in August. 

The 8+ women's crew beating the existing course record by 15 seconds in their 1000m final on Saturday. Kirsten Proctor, Michelle Seddon, Liz Rowles, Cate Dixon, Ellie Rowles, Amanda Lucas, Sophie Branwell, Isobelle Gerrard and Cox Helen Thompson had led early on but were overtaken with 300m to go. However, they powered through in the last 200m to win by one second.

Also on the Saturday the senior men's squad won the Senior eights race, also setting a new course record. The Star composite crew comprised of Will Eason, Ed Porteus, Mark Bavington, Ian Ringer (Upper Thames), Chris Callow, Chris Durrant, Paul Hamblett (Sudbury), Tim Oswin and cox Clarissa Coveney.

On the Sunday the course was shortened to a 500m sprint regatta. In the WIM3 2x event Sophie Barnwell and Liz Rowles combined and reached the final coming third in a close fought race.
