Outstanding performance for Lottie

Lottie Burgess was representing Star Club at the Small Boats Regatta at Dorney Lake, the latest set of Great Britian Junior Trials.

The first action of the day was a head race to determine which semi-finals the athletes were put into. Positions 1-12 made up the A semi-finals, 13-24 made up the B semi-finals with the remainder in the C semi finals.

In the time trial Lottie came home in the second fastest time, 3 seconds behind first place. This lead to Lottie being the quickest in her A semi-final which she went on to win, pulling away from the field at 1000m.

Going into the final Lottie was 2 seconds slower than the time trials winner from the semi final indicating the final would be a close race. In the final two girls had scratched because of illness/injury leading to 4 athletes racing to be the quickest single sculler in the country. Eventually Lottie cam in second 10 seconds behind the winner but 12 ahead of third place.

This is an excellent result as in the previous trials Lottie had come in 11th place and is a reward for her hard work over the last 4 weeks.
